“After we die we’ll forever be learning about and experiencing God’s grace toward us. We’ll likely look back at our lives in this fallen world and see the riches of God’s grace and kindness to us, though our hardships may have seemed anything but grace-filled and kind.
This will be the power of retrospect—seeing afterward that all God’s promises were true all along. May God give us his grace not to wait until we die to discover this, but to believe his Word here and now.”
—Randy Alcorn in “Beautiful and Scandalous”
My prayer this week: Though hindsight is 20/20, grant me this kind of vision in the moment. Help me to see Your hand at work not only in eternity … not only after the trial or hardship is over … but even in the days when weighty challenges loom largest and the pain of difficult seasons hurts the worst. Your promises stand true at all times. May I be a witness to this in my life.
