“Christ’s heart is equally grieved by grace-suppression and truth-suppression, by grace-twisting and truth-twisting. Truth without grace is legalism. Grace without truth is deception. Without truth there is no need for salvation. Without grace there is no hope for salvation.
Since Jesus was the perfect embodiment of grace and truth, we can’t bring glory to Christ by separating the two. We must embrace a gospel that is as full of grace and truth as Jesus is.”
—Randy Alcorn in “Beautiful and Scandalous”
My prayer this week: Father, in this world filled with distortions and manipulations, let me be an honest broker of the grace and truth you’ve embodied for me and all mankind. May I not twist or suppress (and thus deceive myself or others) but instead fully embrace the whole Gospel message and proclaim both your grace and your truth without apology.
