Indifference

Persecution is an enemy the Church has met and mastered many times. Indifference could prove to be a far more dangerous foe.

—Brother Andrew in “God’s Smuggler”

My prayer this week: Lord, I raise my voice for my persecuted brothers and sisters around the world. As they face increasing violence, imprisonment, kidnapping, and murder — as they are shunned by their families and driven from their homes — I pray for their continued faithfulness and perseverance … for their protection and encouragement. Please strengthen these brave believers, dear God … move the Church to reach out and respond to their cries. And help me avoid indifference — to their plight and to Christ’s great suffering for me.
